Fluoride or “vitamins for your teeth” as we like to call them in the office, is a treatment we generally recommend to our pediatric patients every six months. It’s an extremely effective way to help keep teeth free from damaging decay. Fluoride is a naturally-occurring mineral and can actually be found in public water supplies and some of the foods we eat. Professional fluoride treatments courtesy of your Medford pediatric dentist are usually recommended for all patients, especially for those who have:
- Deep pits on the teeth’s chewing surfaces
- Sensitive root surfaces
- Poor oral hygiene habits
- Inadequate saliva flow or fluoride access
- Recent history of dental decay
